Seems to me that it's strange that so many super-intelligent young people have tested as virus-positive. Could it be that they are actually irresponsible or stupid - or both - to have become infected?

And now the poor lambs are up in arms because they can't go home at Xmas! Go home to spread the virus among their ageing parents and grand-parents. Like I say 'irresponsible and stupid'.

Will student rooms/campuses/accommodation become the new Care Homes?
Have some empathy ffs. Kids who've moved away from home for the first time, been lied to that it would all be fine, just to extract rent money that amounts to thousands of pounds of debt they'll never pay off with increasingly bleak job prospects

You don't have to be a socialist to care for the environment.

Quite true but you do if you dislike greed (which is the reason the environment is struggling anyway)

We should send them in some supplies of Cannabis as one such campus portrayed in a window , Universities have had since March to prepare for their arrival , bring together a safe system of work ,incredible ,as is the consumption of drugs and alcohol in normal times on these campuses .

And as you say these students are alleged the bright future surely they noticed Covid its impact on the vulnerable if one didn't act with some form of responsibility or different behavior in such dangerous times , but hey we can always blame someone else .

PS I'm sure there are a lot of well meaning students who have behaved well , bet if we drilled down we wouldn't be shocked at the usual suspects , in the knowledge it will make a headline and create a political vacuum .

Middle ground is rubbish; nothing beats socialism. I get a hard on just thinking about it.

I see a well behaved rave took place in Coventry UNI last night during which social distancing was observed throughout 🤣😂

That's the kind of thinking that loses Labour elections.

No that's the sort of thinking that enrages Tories like you

It doesn't enrage me at all. I've said previously that, until things changed for me, I was a card carrying member of the Labour Party for very many years but it feels like only middle of the road socialism will ever get Labour elected and I believe Starmer realises that. Blair had to de - socialise the Party to become a Tory in disguise in order to get elected and it seems clear from the last election result that socialism is a real turn off for the British electorate. It might excite you but the voting public - the people that matter - disagrees.

So, the middle ground isn't rubbish. The middle ground gets political parties elected.

You're under the mistaken impression things never change. The middle ground might well suit you, I dare say you're comfortably off, but it doesn't suit everyone. I think after seeing just how ineffective, unscrupulous and destructive capitalism is for the lives of so many, an awful lot of particularly younger people will refuse to accept the propaganda were constantly fed. Having witnessed the failure of this right wing government they will be more likely to accelerate the process.

Spot on , and these revolutionised students will one day get good jobs, own houses, have families and become day raging capitalist Tories .

In the meantime , of course have fun students , but try and care for the vulnerable as well in this challenging times there is a deadly virus about .

Meeting people from different parts of the country, backgrounds in that first term was such an awakening and feel privileged to have been given the opportunity. A couple of my kids have been through this in normal times with similar outcomes.

We all have sympathy with the current generation who have gone through the debacle of A Level results. made it to university to be charged £5 grand for a cell for the year and get stigmatised as virus spreaders a couple of weeks after the government incentivise for people to eat out and socialise ended.

I can't get to my Mum in her care home as her life ebbs away but I don't blame students for that and knowing how proud she was that I was the first member of our family to make it to university she wouldn't either!
But thats exactly what a lot of them are - virus spreaders who obviously couldn't care less about the rest of the population. They interviewed one young lady on tv last week in her ‘cell’ who was moaning about not being able to go out and missing all the freshers week activities, which she had worked so hard to achieve and then towards the end of the interview she coughed a few times and admitted that she was self isolating because she had been tested and had the bloody virus !! I really do despair at these people.

The trouble is that left wing/socialist politics has been soundly rejected by the population over the last 40 years and been found out to be more ineffective, unscrupulous and destructive. What sort of mess do you think that Corbyn/Labour would have made of the last six months.

I was about to make a sarcastic comment but thought better of it.

As a Tory, how about you answer your own question?

What sort of mess do you think that Corbyn/Labour would have made of the last six months?

Every time this govt. is criticised, it's always "what about Labour/Corbyn?!" "Can you imagine if Corbyn had been in charge of this?!" Etc... But I've never seen anyone say what they think would have happened differently to make this situation so much worse

Have a crack at it, dml. What would Labour have done during the pandemic that would have been so much worse than how it's been handled already?

Cannot possibly be worse than the current buffoon.
There would have probably been more a focus on people and less a focus on business.
