Why has politics been dragged into this?
Many students have the attitude that is rife in today's society (which has nothing to do with politics): "I am NOT and WILL NOT BE bound by rules".
Hence many do not socially distance - or object to wearing facemasks - or rail against being confined. They feel they above rules. It's a mindset.
Infection has been passed on among the student bodies because of stupidity and irresponsibility - least, that's what Agnes told me.
There's nothing more ineffective, unscrupulous and destructive than capitalism and as I said previously you make a mistake if you rely upon the recent past to make your point.
I genuinely believe Corbyn/Labour would have made a better fist of things; for one they wouldn't have been so cavalier as this bunch of dopes. If you genuinely believe anyone (apart from the other right wing nutters) across the world (look at USA, India, Brazil) would have performed worse you need your head read. Come to think of it that wouldn't be a bad idea anyway.
If you believe capitalism is ineffective and destructive can you name one non capitalist country where the population leads the kind of life we are fortunate to lead in the UK. We know that Jeremy Corbyn was a huge fan of Venezuela. How did that go? I recall many years ago that the Students Union was crammed full of people with similar views to the above but, since they have matured, their views might well have changed at least those who are friends of mine I know for a fact think very differently now than they did then.
Presumably now Corbyn has gone you must be looking elsewhere to cast your vote or do you believe Starmer and Co share your view that capitalism is ineffective, unscrupulous and destructive.

Up to 200 people gathered for a party at a university student hall, flouting coronavirus restrictions.
Police said officers had attended accommodation at Coventry University in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Officers have worked with the management of Arundel House to close some communal areas and increase security, West Midlands Police said.
The university is "deeply concerned" over a video of the party and condemned the "blatant breaches" of rules.
Footage from private accommodation on Whitefriars Lane emerged on social media showing a large group of people who were apparently not adhering to social distancing rules.
it went like this
No independent government institutions remain today in Venezuela to act as a check on executive power. A series of measures by the Maduro and Chávez governments stacked the courts with judges who make no pretense of independence. The government has been repressing dissent through often-violent crackdowns on street protests, jailing opponents, and prosecuting civilians in military courts. It has also stripped power from the opposition-led legislature.
Precious few non-capitalist countries exist so it's impossible to offer a comparison, however capitalism has virtually dominated the world for centuries and judge for yourself it's efficacy in reducing wars, poverty, disease, conflict and damage to the planet.
Your argument that you happen to know few friends who have not changed their political views since their youth is subjective and proves nothing; I on the other hand know many people who since our university days are still red hot socialists and compassionate people. I note you don't live in South Wales; perhaps you and your Ilk have been more fortunate than most in life.
No I don't believe Starmer is a socialist but he will get my vote because it is sometimes necessary to be pragmatic in politics and the most urgent need for everyone is to oust the right wing. More idealist nuances can be implemented after this imperative for the good of the world.
yep , I'm not as talented as where you to remember every moment in history , but I guess what you do is read the same articles , the transpose that into your own critical terminology . Mine just saves some time and one can agree gets to the point ,sorry if my reply hit nerve
Ive got no issue with the students. They are at an age where they should be mixing and socialising. A lot of them have moved away for the first time after being locked up for the past 6 months having to deal with the stress of exams previously.
Everyone has to be accountable for their own health, the lack of clarity given moving forward is poor.
Its easy to be critical of others. This could be going on for years and unfortunately people will die but people cannot be living inside their box in fear.
Which countries/states do you consider to be communist or socialist?
Not based on the name of the ruling party, but on the economic/social/political system in place.
I can't think of 'plenty'. After Cuba I am struggling to think of any. There are ruling castes/families/parties in some countries where the economic system is best described as 'state capitalist'. There are authoritarian regimes of all types all over the world but none that fit any normal definition of communist. There are states where a government is trying to introduce greater equality or fairness for the poor - together with better health and education - but are failing due to external sanctions, internal sabotage and incompetence. There are still a few social democratic states and left-wing populist movements in government (on and off in Spain, Portugal, Greece and some Scandinavian countries) but they are not 'communist countries' or 'socialist states'.
just walked past a good few students in Cardiff ,they didn't look distraught ,even in the rain and wind, incredible what a few good drinks can do to ones well being
