    Cardiff Lockdown

When does this expire? I've been through the new stories (admittedly this was on the Wailsonline site), but I can't find any mention of when it's going to end. Has anyone heard anything regarding an end date, or are we doomed to stay indoors for ever?

RCT reviewed fortnightly. Suspect Cardiff will be the same.

Also suspect this is a creeping death to a greater scale lockdown.

Almost everything is still open isn't it, not doomed to stay indoors.

Seems they review it every 3 weeks, there was talk of Caerphilly coming out of theirs soon due to cases dropping there.

Don't think they have put any end date on it.

Doesn't it depend on the figures dropping to an acceptable level? Nobody can possibly know the answer before the lockdown even starts.

There can't be a definitive end date to the lockdown because of the uncertainty and unpredictability surrounding transmission of the virus.

As it stood prior to the lockdown announcement, Cardiff was not a particularly 'bad' area, but to all intents and purposes the decision made by the Welsh Government was a cautious one aimed at preventing transmission rates spiralling out of control in this area.

Drakeford is hoping that by Christmas families will be able to mingle without any restrictions but this is the type of comment a politician will often make to soften the blow.

You can pretty much do anything you would normally do but staying within the county borders and drinking up by 10.20pm (after a 10pm stop tap).

If you need to go to work in Newport or RCT or anywhere else you can, if you need to go to another area for a necessary service that's not available in Cardiff then you can. If you want a beer after 10pm then buy some from your local shop and have them in the fridge ready

I hate the word lockdown. It's quite intimidating when we are not locked down, but restricted. I'd rather they described it that way. Lockdown is helping create fear and is making people with and without mental illness loss any confidence they may have had.

Well said Mike. I can't believe the effect it has had on my mother. She suffers with Crohn's disease so was told that she was in the vulnerable category, plus she's over 70. She's always been a tough nut, political, hard working, involved in social issues, union matters and chasing Fascists out of Cardiff! This Virus and the word 'Lockdown' the media's portrayal in some instances of some kind of mini Armageddon, no real social interaction has whacked her confidence, she's turned into an old lady, metaphorically speaking, she's even moving slower.

I don't think that the media, government (at all levels, have helped to reassure the most vulnerable and those on their own etc. It's horrible to see. We may have another wave, infact i'm certain we will, but it might not be Covid, just a lot of people who have suffered needlessly due to State and media incompetence not offering a shred of positivity.

Can you bollocks. If you abide by the rules, you cannot visit anyone from outside your own household and you cannot go places such as pubs, restaurants, cinemas, etc, with people from outside your own household either. That is nowhere near normal. Not even remotely close.

I don't go out to those places with people other than my household. If you go to the pub and your friends happen to be in there because it's their local as well then you can socialise that way.

It would have to be a bit more contrived if you and your mates happened to be in the same restaurant at the same time.

But from a personal point of view I can do pretty much all I want to do in the local area.

I suppose it depends on lifestyle and interests. I can do all of the things i did before apart from watch live sport at a venue. I've just worked my bollocks off which has filled that void.

Bully for you. You hate the word 'lockdown'. I hate the way some people try to pretend we can do pretty much anything we would normally do. We can't. Not by a very long chalk.

You can go and meet mates and sit outside a pub, I’ve done this a few times of late. Might not be so great in November but it isxwhst it is.

Does anyone want me to send over a food parcel hanging from a drone?

    Re: Cardiff Lockdown

Parts of Manchester have been in local lockdown since end of July. Think MM is right though, "lockdown" is a term being used to describe something extreme as seen in China/Italy earlier in year and what is being used in Sweden too so maybe we need to describe restrictions in a bit more detail to get gist of where we're at.

Lockdown is dramatic, seems to be the order of the day.

I thought this. However my local was told by one of these inspectors that as a pub is classed as an indoor venue even outside your not to meet up and sit together.

Only allowing members of the same household to sit together inside and outside.

Otherwise if its your local your all in there sitting apart.

    Its not all bad news

    At least xmas is cancelled

People are dying of this virus and there are idiots saying they are devastated because they cannot celebrate Xmas this year

If I was in charge I would cancel it every year

I miss the home games but it’s the away games I really miss, great camaraderie with a great set of lads and a great day out. But missing that is trivial compared to what some unfortunate souls have gone through this last 8/9 months, nothing has really changed for me, barring the first sentence in this post, compared to what some folk must be going through if they strictly adhere to the rules. Understandable frustration for some but utter confusion for many whose life, through certain circumstances, totally depends on routine, a routine that’s been disrupted by all recognition.
