Price and location wise 100% Bridgend. A train every 15 minutes to Cardiff that only takes 20 minutes. The same going the other way to Swansea. Lots of shops and super cheap housing.

Llantwit is a great town , surfing , fishing , great coastal walks , a supermarket big enough to get everything you need , easy access to Cardiff by train , cheaper housing , along with st Athan than the rural vale which is pretty but very posh and expensive , a nearby industrial estate with mechanics .....I recommend Nathan at the original a and g , 788666 ......direct road to barry

Bridgend is spot on regarding housing , trains , motorway to Cardiff and west Wales as you say . Loads to do in Bridgend for families

Like barry its on the whole a good place to live

They're quite nice, but all a bit out-of town soulless. You could be anywhere

Basically, by reading through this fred, buy anywhere, as long as it's not by a river.

Yes, it's not too bad. Less insane than Merthyr or Ponty.

Aberdare is a tough old town mind , knew some city fans from trecynon , they were useful body guards

I'm from the Bridgend area, moved up here 10 years ago. I find Aberdare a safer place to go out to than Bridgend.

Folks talking about Ponty, but what about llantrisant, church village? Are they classed as Ponty now? What are they like?
I've been going into Trefforest for the last week or so and it seems quite peaceful but I'm only there during they day. Is it really separate from Ponty or just more of the same?

I hope to buy a house in the next year or two and thought Caerphilly would be OK. My fist thought was Tongwynlais but I think it is catching up with Cardiff prices.

I can understand Treforest being a part of Ponty, but not any further.

Merthyr Spoons is alright. Far worse places in town on Glebland Street.

Yeah I'd say Treforest is pretty much in Ponty, but it's also it's own area - very studenty round there.

Church Village and especially Llantrisant are definitely not Ponty

Church Village is interesting. Some lovely properties and Cae Fadre plonked in the middle of it.

Entertaining place that estate, if you're a people watcher.

I used to fish the Ogmore but it never used to allow spinning till July, I am useless with the fly so I lost interest

I’m working in a decent part of Bridgend at the moment Sludge, Parkfields at the end of Angelton Road, very nice area.
