I drive an Audi A5. I'd always wanted one, but it had to be silver, petrol, manual gearbox, and with a leather interior. So when one came along, I just had to buy it. It's very low mileage, and I'm not adding much to it, but the big Audis go on for ever anyway.

Don’t have a car. Borrow ‘er indoors’ Mini Cooper when needed.

I certainly wouldn't buy a diesel at the moment - their future is very limited.

They are not a bad buy financially! great MPG and a good diesel engine can run forever..

However they are stinking dirty, when in traffic lights behind one I can taste the shit the shit coming through the air vents, just really bad for peoples health and the environment, and in the near future existing diesels will be taxed heavily to get them off the roads.

A Class Mercedes and a Land Rover Discovery.

The Land Rover is an automatic, the first I've had, and would happily never change a gear again.

Not all diesels pump out a load of shit. The most modern diesels are to Euro 6 standard which includes lorries which makes very clean and efficient.

What about petrol cars ? How much longer are we chaps going to be able to drive them ? I fully understand and will pay extra road tax to keep mine on the road , I hate changing cars

X trail and a 15 year old Volvo v50 estate. Sold my c class merc so the Volvo is an interim car as had it for nothing whilst I save for a new E class or discovery sport.

2017 Kia Optima Estate, never thought I would buy a Kia but I love the car.

Was going to buy a BMW 5 series estate or tourer as they are called but had to spend about 5k more for the model I wanted and it was a year older than the Kia with 20k more on the clock.... I took the sensible route as I have two young kids so I guess other priorities :(

It is a huge car, bigger than the Audi A6 estate and I manage about 48 miles p gallon not bad for the size of the car. Very comfy, had all the tech you want want plus a Harman Kardon audio system with separate amplifier, best sound system I have heard in a car it was the biggest selling point for me as pre covid I was doing 26k miles a year for work and love my music blasting!

Driven it to The Netherlands and to Bordeaux with the family. Kia have stopped making them now as they weren't making enough money from them, they are high spec but when they are up against the A6, Series 5, E Class etc people will always go for a name. They have the same parts as the Kia Ceed so hopefully I won't have any problems if things go wrong!

Got a VW Sharan via Motability- need the space unfortunately. Also got a little Seat Mii for little trips where we dont need the space. Both have their pluses and minuses.

I've always gone for older cars in good condition such as Mercs or Jags but last year I bought an MG3 as my first ever brand new car. Nice looking, a little bit boring but 7 year warranty is good.
My wife has a 15 year old Ford StreetKa convertible which is low mileage and great fun to drive.

I have had a mini , another mini , a mini metro .......I am not driving a mini metro , an astra and a Ford escort

I have taken over the family Ford c max , its ten years old and has done 45000 miles

Its a bit too chunky for what I need but I can go fishing , take stuff up the tip , naff off to Tenby for a weekend, drive down the city etc

Its got a small patch of rust that needs looking at and the passenger side electric window needs sorting

Its harder to park than a fiesta or clio but its more solid and has more space and I hate those land rover discovery four by four beasts

I spoke to my mechanic the other day and he reckons with regular winter services and not bombing off to Birmingham every other weekend I could get another 100000 miles out of this , the zetec engines are like the vauxhaul ones , real workhorses . If I don't have to get another car for ten years I will be well happy.

The only hassle is 200 Road tax but thats nothing compared to buying a new car every four years , I dont understand why people do that , or spending loads on finance

I feel sorry for young people, one of my mums carers has to pay 800 quid a year to insure her 1.1 runaround
My first car, in 1998, was a C reg Fiesta 1.1L. I paid £350 for it and it cost me £700 to insure for the first year on 3rd party only. I had it all the way through university and spend about £300 a year patching it up through its MOT, but it was great fun, like a little go-kart. I sold it when I graduated and the girl I sold it to ploughed it into a lorry about two weeks afterward (thankfully she was unhurt), I was dismayed once I knew she was okay, it was a nice little motor with no bumps or bruises.

New drivers these days have hideous premiums!

Just got m final company car before retirement and it’s the best car I’ve had. It’s a BMW 330 Sport. A hybrid and my first automatic. I’ve driven just over 1 million miles in my life and have had some nice cars but this is a step up.
