    Take Flint for example...

Signed for £4m in the summer of 2019 on a 3 year contract. £1m/year salary cost. So total cost £7m... £2.3m a year.

Total cost of Wilson deal £1.2m plus 7 months salary...£2.3m?!

One gives us a chance at promotion, the other doesn't.
Depends if one has a resale value though, and if that value will go up.

Like I said elsewhere, It’s the old adage of buying a car vs leasing. Always buy an appreciating asset loan a depreciating one.

I think loans will be common whilst budgets are squeezed.

I think we can safely say that 33 year old Flint will not have a re-sale value in the summer of 2022, if we were to extend his contract.

Clearly the club has realised that it has been too generous in the contracts it was giving out pre-Covid. I'm certain it's why Paterson had to go, and why Flint has to go.

He's worth at least 12m to Burnley, we've paid a 10th of that. We don't get any resale value but we get a terrific player and apparently we have first option to sign him if we go up. I mean, we won't go up but still. It is a tremendously exciting deal, he got 15 in 41 for Derby. Nice to have another welsh player, too.

Yep. Would have been very happy if Reading had signed him on this deal. He is earning more than I thought but you will only be paying his wages for about 28 weeks so circa £1.7 million.

I thought the 1.2m was an odd figure but with those wages, I think it's probably 3m all in then!

No chance. Top end Championship players go for a lot more than that. Just look at what West Ham are paying for Benarahma.

Think he will be perfect playing off just behind big Kieffer Moore 👍

Jesus. Promotion it’ll have to be.
Smells of the 10/11 season with the Bellars signing and lots of loans.

No chance we are blowing 60k a week wages plus a loan fee of a mill.

    From Wales Online:

"Here's Glen Williams with the full story on what has been the defining saga of deadline day:

WalesOnline understands that Cardiff will pay Premier League champions Liverpool a loan fee of £1.2m to secure Harry Wilson's services.

It is also understood that the Bluebirds will cover all of the Wales international's wages, which is estimated to be worth around £60,000 per week."

I did read that, just find it hard to believe.

He may be right but WalesOnline aren't always the most accurate.
