    A game of two eras

Here's a documentary where the FA cup finals of 1957 and 2007 are compared. It's not a new programme, but an interesting watch, particularly how football was back in the 50s.

thanks for that a good watch

mind you the game has moved faster from 2007 till now than 1957 to 2007 thanks to johan Cruyff and south america

think the other bob wilson will say otherwise

Agreed. There should be a video comparing England in 1966 and Wales in 2016. Could be interesting!

I've always thought that if you have to bring in lots of players from overseas to be competitive, you're not doing enough of a job in producing your own players.

There is the argument in the Premier League that bringing in too many foreigners denies young British players the opportunity a chance. That is true to an extent, but it doesn't address what the Premier League needs. Ultimately it seeks to be one of the very top divisions in Europe that challenges in the latter stages of the Champions League. If there's a circle of clubs that keeps making the latter rounds, they all need to have the best players from around the world. Could you imagine the top 4 Premier League clubs relying on English born strikers? Not going to happen. Not even if they rely on European strikers.

The probability of the Premier League having much more home grown talent and still being as competitive in Europe is simply laughable. A few countries mop up the best talent from around the world. Football capitalism.

nail on the head football capitalism hence the reason why football academies in the UK are a total waste of time and money

the elite may as well play there elite game on planet Mars !

the UK has always been years behind europe producing technical players and was very interested in that film than even in 1957 we were years behind Hungary nothings changed !!!!
