Thread: JJ Williams RIP

    JJ Williams RIP

Died at the age of 72. Very quick winger from the Welsh rugby golden era of the seventies who scored plenty of kick and chase tries when he first came into the team which showed his background in athletics to good effect, but then became a more rounded player as the years went by.

    RIP

Had the pleasure of meeting him several times. My worst ever hangover was after a night out with him many years ago.
    Sad loss.

Yes Rhys represented Wales and GB at Commonwealth and Olympic level and his other two children represented Wales at junior level.

Yes, very successful it was too. I think they were industrial painters, painting factories and the like.

Great player, who had pace to burn and like so many of the Welsh greats of his era, had the simple philosophy of "Avoid Contact"... something modern-day players would do well to follow.
