    Awful decision, yet again.

2 nil now, rubbing salt into the wound.
    Poor old Leeds

Re: VAR - Palace v Leeds

I haven't seen it, but Ally McCoist and Jeff Stelling are bewildered on Soccer Saturday.

Re: VAR - Palace v Leeds

Does anyone actually want to see their Club in the PL with a joke of a system that seems to cause more controversy than human error. Might as well just have someone on a computer 200 miles away or even on the moon and dispose of a referee and linesmen.

How much is Bamford worth now?

  8. #8

Re: VAR - Palace v Leeds

    Weird.
His (wrongly IMO) disallowed effort was superb and the goal he took really well but he was dreadful the other night.

Leeds do create a lot of chances so he can afford to miss a few (unlike ourselves)

How long has Dave Grohl been playing for Leeds?

Re: VAR - Palace v Leeds

Wow that is some own goal
    3-1 Palace, great first half.

It was the correct decision, you can't blame VAR. The offside rule has to be changed.

It’s really simple isn’t it. Go with the front foot. If that’s in the ground nearer the goal than a defenders then it’s offside. It’s easy to draw a straight line then. Hockey (ice) has it right

Re: VAR - Palace v Leeds

His finger was allegedly offside. Ridiculous.

    How is that wrongly disallowed?

Bamford should not have cancelled him manicure.

I'd rather it be the entire person has to be in front of the last defender. If his foot is still onside he is.

We'd get more goals that way.

Isn't that what is happening now?

Re: VAR - Palace v Leeds

The issues with VAR have largely been mitigated by not having any fans in the stadium: the celebration of a goal hasn't been stolen as much as celebration muted anyway, there isn't confusion about why the decision has been made because you get to see the replays, fans aren't delayed getting home with extra-time running to 10 minutes.

VAR is highlighting that the rules themselves often don't make sense, that pundits who are meant to explain what is happening aren't very good at their jobs and that pundits/managers who called for VAR as answer to all bad decisions didn't really know what they were asking for.

VAR is deflecting some of the attention away from the referees in the ground. There was some talk on twitter about non-league games being put at risk because of a lack of people willing to put up with the abuse officials get. That might be good enough reason to keep it in the end, but personally I'd rather my team relegated on back of human error rather than goal-line technology not being able to communicate system error with VAR system and ask for help
Might as well put it as a quote, it's going to be my thoughts for every VAR discussion.

Exactly. You can't even play the ball with your hand. What the **** does it matter?

I think it should be the back foot. If the back foot is onside, the player is onside.

    Maradona might disagree.

Just when you think VAR can't get any more ridiculous you get a "decision" like this. What happened to the benefit of the doubt going to the attacking side and to VAR only being there to adjudicate on clear and obvious errors?

To be fair, it was clear and obvious. His hand was definitely offside.
