Didn't Rollo get a head injury whilst scoring, Southend was it?

My memory is of him scoring a goal at the Canton end in a league cup game with Southend, in added time, to earn us a replay at Roots Hall. He was quite badly hurt in his heroic efforts to find the back of the net. Think this was about August 1997??

I had it down as a midweek league game against Leyton Orient. Somebody needs to solve this Rollo Riddle.

That was easy, according to wiki, you're bang on the money!

Carl Dale was badly injured in the opening game of the (I think 96/97) season at Brisbane Road and missed most of the season. Are you getting confused over players and their injuries and teams they got injured against. i know I do from time to time

Funny how fairly trivial events stick in your mind, from irrelevant games from a long time ago. The 'Mighty' Southend were a division above us at the time, I think. We went up there mid-week (Tuesday) for the replay and lost 2-1. Memory tells me jason fowler scored out goal, although maybe I am confusing this with another time he scored at Roots Hall

My memory is far sharper of games long ago, than ones in recent memory of say five or ten years ago. Maybe it's my age.. ??

According to Wikipedia Harding was made captain when he joined City. I hope his never speaking didn't extend to his time on the pitch.

I remember this - he was stretchered off. The reason it sticks in my mind, is that some guy sat behind me yelled out "They've taken our last Rollo!". Honest, it actually happened.

Remembered for two reasons, 1st being at the time I don't recall too many other footballers called Stacey and 2nd because he would have probably fitted in with a worst loan 11
How about this third reason? Stacey Caldicott's wife (Steph) was a contestant on Big Brother in 2003. Both were from Grimsby although he played for WBA before loaning him out. I thought he was a decent player for us but football is a game of opinions. The fact he played for lower league clubs after us suggests he wasn't that good though. Stacey Caldicott is now a fireman.
