Have you seen the replays , he was at least a foot to 18 inches off the line

I thought that after each penalty they took. I was watching on my pc without volume as I had other things to do, so couldn't hear the commentary.

Before the shoot out I thought it's going to be Leicester all over again. Well done Marshall.

**** them.I may never see Wales in a World Cup Finals. Their cheating is partly responsible for that.

    Is the correct answer.

    Never forget.

I was thinking the same as I was watching the shoot out, but, in the end, I came down on the side of Marshall and was pleased for them - Marshall is probably the only member of their squad who was alive when the game in 85 took place.

I'm a bit pissed off by the fact that they get to play two of their games at Hampden Park though, the way the venues were allocated for the tournament was a right carve up.

    Re: Wales

The real story of the night was North Macedonia qualifying for their first tournament. Goran Pandev came out of international retirement in 2016 after 3 years away, scored the winner to send them to their first tournament and retires after the Euros aged 37/38.

Wales not knowing where their games will be played yet and Scotland getting two games at home (England getting potentially six of seven games at home) does feel a bit rubbish. Spreading out the tournament was a nice idea but it really hasn't worked practically.

Yup, seen the replays. Just saw them again. His foot was on the line when the ball was kicked. Good enough.

I bow to your replay sightings. At the point of the save he certainly wasn't on the line, but if his foot was on the line, at the time of said kick, then fair enough.

I can only presume that it would require a keen sense of timing to be able to dive forward slightly to cover an angle in the nanoseconds after the ball is struck, making penalty saves that bit more tricky. Certainly a more difficult save than Kermogant....

    Re: Scotland

    Congrats Scotland

Was it ever really in doubt once you've got Marshall in goal for a penalty shootout?

    Re: Scotland

Nobody's commented on Marshall's world-class save from a sweetly struck shot that was angled across him into the far corner.

That saved Scotland's match - as much as Robertson's miss when beautifully set up could have lost them the game.

    Re: Scotland

Marshall's save was legit. As long as one foot is touching the line when the ball is kicked it's fine.

Happy for him. Remember the rumour that his missus was bored up in Hull and wanted to come back down south?

I hope England smash the Scots in the Finals.

You and the rest of the footballing world outside of Scotland.
The shot would have ended up across Sloper Road!

There's a thread started tonight posing the question of whether there's ever been a Wales game that has generated so little interest.
I think the contents of this, the match thread, has the answer
    ...... or should it be

To be fair, Scotland and NI were playing "final ties" to qualify for a major tournament. We were playing a friendly against a team of relative unknowns. Scotland would have taken thousands to Belgrade and Windsor Park would have been sold out. How many would we have had down the Liberty?

I’ve no love for either of the other “Home Nations” particularly Scotland after the two penalty incidents.

Happy for Martial, Patterson and Jimmy the Jock though.
Wish that Patterson was still with us.

To be fair...CCFC Match threads Or CCFC related threads in general are hardly much livelier.

Yes, that was one of the best bits of quality football Wales came up with all night.
