But can we do it on a cold Tuesday night in Stoke? We'll soon find out
Match Officials:
Referee: TONY HARRINGTON
Assistants: Shaun Hudson and Daniel Leach
Fourth Official : Dean Whitestone
Last few games we have had this ref
Cardiff Bristol 0-1
Leeds Cardiff 3-3
Cardiff Swansea 0-0
Stoke have got a number of injury doubts including an old favourite of ours. Clucas
Would make a few changes just to make sure our best are fresh going into saturday - and that it's another short turnaround.
Smithies
Bacuna
Nelson
Morrison
Bennett
Wilson
Pack
Vaulks
Murphy
Glatzel
Hoilett
I'd rather have Galzel on the bench relieving Moore than the other way about.
If more comes on to replace him and gets a knock we're stymied.
Tomorrow will be the 44th meeting between us and Stoke City (not including 4 games we played in the 1920s against Stoke).
Overall Stoke City have the head to head advantage, winning 19 to our 15 with 9 draws. Our record at Stoke is won 6, drawn 5, lost 12, meaning we've lost over half of our games there.
Our current record against Stoke isn't great. Last season's 1-0 home win with a rare Bacuna goal was the only victory against Stoke in 10 attempts, having won 7 of the previous 9.
Our best ever season against Stoke was in Dave Jones's first campaign, winning both fixtures 3-0. That 3-0 away win, courtesy of 2 Jerome goals and one from Purse, meant we had won 4 successive away trips to the Potteries. Prior to that we had won 2 wins in 16 visits. Since that win, we've lost 3 and drawn 2 at Stoke. We've only scored twice in those 5 matches as well.
It's hardly a bogey ground, but it's not a place we tend to do well at, either.
It does appear as if they will have a few younger players in the team due to injuries. Wonder whether the fresh legs will help them or lack of experience hinder them. They have been getting good results this season. Also depends how much energy we,ve still got after 3 pretty high tempo performances in the last 3 games with the same starting eleven
But winning gives you energy. When I played ws played 2 times a week and
winning always made me hungry for the next game.
Getting excited now.
Apart from the Stoke v City, there's so much football on tonight. Man U v Leipzig is crucial to OGS. Who knows what the man is going to do next?
Bit surprised we're unchanged to be honest, but no complaints really.
Unusual for Hoilett not to be in squad. Hope it's nothing catching. 🤒
When we win tonight, if Bournemouth beat the jacks then the weekend game will be a 6 pointer!!!
Me too. I wonder what the strategy for this fixture pile-up is. Would the players get more days off. Do they have "days off" where they go in for massages or other treatment? Or would they be left to just chill out and clear their minds? Would they even be trusted to do that?
Firstly how the hell was that a foul on the goalkeeper by Kieffer? It was a 50/50 challenge and the keeper was way out of his box. Keepers shouldn’t get that much protection just because they’re keepers
Secondly, that was poor by City then Campbell should have scored
They play a very similar game to ours. I think we're marginally the better side so far. In fact, dare I say it, I think we have better players than them.
they are certainly offering a different kind of threat to Watford
