He hasn't got much to sing about, then.

    Er? The linked article says:

'The 21-year-old former Bolton Wanderers and Manchester United prospect made three League Two starts for the Robins, along with a further seven appearances from the bench.

'He also started three times in the Papa John's Trophy and appeared as a substitute once in the FA Cup....'

I'm frequently surprised at the age of some of these loan players. 21 is an age I'd expect someone to be either good enough to start on the bench at least or just not to be good enough.

Theres not much on the Cheltenham site but what there is its positive. They dont want him to go.

Dan James did nothing on loan before rejoining Swansea.

Hopefully Sang can do something for us.

Probably should edit the title of the thread.

Re: Tom Sang returns to City after failing to get a game at Cheltenham

Manager Michael Duff feels that Tom Sang's loan spell at Cheltenham Town will help the 21-year-old moving forward with the next stage of his career after it was confirmed on Monday that he would be returning to Cardiff City.

The September arrival made 14 appearances in all competitions for the Robins after joining on loan from the Bluebirds.

Duff was pleased with the contribution he made in helping the squad reach the higher stages of League Two heading into 2021, and expects him to kick on back at parent club Cardiff.

"I think he has done well. He's been a little bit unlucky at times. He got in the team and then got injured," Duff said.

"Saturday probably summed it up because he was starting on Saturday. He came on and was excellent against Colchester and he was starting against Harrogate but then the game got called off.

"I think he's made 14 appearances and I think its been a good loan. It's been a difficult one for him in terms of he's been a little bit in and out, but I think it'll be interesting what Cardiff think because I think he will go back into their first team group now. They are allowed a bigger bench and hopefully he'll go back and they'll see a difference in him that will reflect well on us and more importantly him."

The former Manchester United youngsters versatility proved useful to Duff with Sang operating in a number of positions in his time at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium.

Duff feels though that he now has an opportunity to find his ideal preferred position that he can look to focus on as he builds on the EFL experience gained from his time in Gloucestershire.

"He's an unbelievable kid," Duff continued. "You'd have 20 of him in your squad all day long. He has unbelievable enthusiasm, dedication, he's just a good bloke. That energy comes out on the pitch as well so he's been a little bit unlucky in terms of he never nailed down one position. He can play as a ten, as an eight and can play at right wing back which is good as one of the reasons we brought him in but moving forward he probably will try and need to nail a specialised position down.

"He's got good minutes and experiences good and bad. He got taken off at Barrow at half time, probably slightly unfairly but it could have been anybody. He's come out of the team, he's got injured, he's had a run in the team so in terms of experience I think it has been a good loan for him."

I've watched a few Cheltenham games that he's featured in. I'd suggest that he's not going to have any impact on our side, I'd love him to settle at right back and be a world beater, I'd be really surprised to see him feature ; especially if Harris wants to keep his job!
