Interesting article on some of the problems caused by Brexit:

Another kick in the teeth for the doom and gloom brigade. Looks like the Yanks won't be flooding the country with their chlorinated chicken, hormone injected beef, GM crops and NHS destructing requirements any time soon.

Though when they do they will also include requirements on the UK to commit to ever heightening green standards, global migration agreements, and international initiatives like the continuation of our aid spending, according to the Express's pet Brexit analyst.

I was particularly taken by his unemotional critique.

"The Prime Minister would do very well to remember that we did not vote to leave the EU so we can implement even more far-left green regulations, open up mass uncontrolled immigration to the world rather than just the EU, and adopt vegan inspired food standards.

“We didn't roll back the frontiers of the leftist EU only to have the same establishment globalist thinking forced upon us at a national level.

“The motivations for Brexit should be our Government's red lines.

“No to the far left green agenda, no to mass immigration, and no to forcing a liberal metropolitan set of views and standards on a public that have roundly and consistently rejected them.”

A cynic might argue that the profit to be enhanced by the removal of protective standards was the prime motivation to leave the EU for the Populist Metropolitan Elite in the first place.

I started typing a sarcastic reply (in obvious agreement) but realised how depressing it is that we are somehow in this position.

Nevermind, Nissan still have a factory in Sunderland (sarcasm comes naturally, I guess).

    The upsides and the downsides

Realising that we can now all trade in Swiss shares again makes it all seem worthwhile after all.
