The recent change of manager was something that had been coming for a while. But it was something that the club was actively planning for, and was part of a chain of events started a few weeks ago. Okay, this might have occurred to a lot of people, but I've not seen it mentioned on here.

Here's the chain of events. Three weeks ago - McCarthy quits his job. Monday/Tuesday - the club is signing new players. Wednesday - we lose to QPR. Thursday - Harris is sacked. Friday - McCarthy is appointed.

It's pretty clear to me, that the club had been in touch with McCarthy BEFORE Harris was sacked. The speed in which McCarthy was put in place means that there was no search for a new guy - no adverts, applications or interviews - it was already done and dusted. McCarthy had been approached weeks ago, and had quit his job, because he knew the call was coming. That also means Harris was doomed, whether we beat QPR or not.

But that also suggests that McCarthy must have been involved in the recent player purchases. It's hard to believe otherwise. When Harris said that the transfers were 'club buys' just points to the fact that someone else was involved. Has McCarthy been in post longer than we think?
