No they are both small clubs in the eyes of most fans and why are you trying to be pedantic??
Bored are you?
Chelsea attracted a lot of support from South, South West and North West London
Brentford , QPR and Fulham were always in their shadow
They also drew support from the home counties , Surrey, Sussex , Berkshire etc
Loved it when we turned them over from time to time , two one in the Littlewoods cup if I remember
Big club
I couldn't agree more.
Prior to 2000, we finished above Chelsea on 10 occasions and were in a higher division than them for 5 seasons.
Chelsea only finished above us on 63 occasions, were in a higher division for 28 seasons, were 2 divisions higher for 14 seasons and 3 divisions higher than us for 9 seasons.
Almost identical records.
Not quite at the top of the pile, but not far short.
The list of clubs who topped the attendances charts for each season between the two wars is interesting:
Arsenal x 9
Chelsea x 4
Liverpool x 2
Newcastle Utd x 2
Manchester City x 2
Aston Villa x 1
Big clubs then, big clubs now.
The only clubs in addition to those who have topped the attendance charts since the end of the Second World War are Manchester United, Spurs and Everton.
I don't think Villa are one of the big boys
Clearly far bigger than us but nothing compared to scouse gits , United, Arsenal , Spurs etc
Considering they hardly ever do anything Newcastle and Sunderland , support wise are big clubs
Football is a religion in Liverpool , Manchester, Tyneside , Wearside
Its never going to be down here though
Which makes me sad
