Not much else going on at Sunday tea time. There was no sport on TV, the pubs were closed. Everything was closed. I remember going to see bands occasionally on a Sunday night and town was completely dead. Maybe the Wimpy Bar on St John Street was open. Queen Steet was completely dead. You had to wait until 7pm for that little bar around the corner from the Lexington to open. Sunday Funday had not yet been invented.

The top prize was a bit hit and miss but generally it was something which you couldn't share or impractical like a speedboat.
I remember at work next day chatting about what you'd done or watched on the weekend, as you did, and everyone just laughing at how bad the whole show was from the presenter to the prizes, the set.
Those kind of shows were based on not just the chance of getting the dream prize but had a finale to look forward to, in this case the two darters getting 101 or more.
This particular episode didn't even have that as the three sets of contestants took the money! The last two a whole 200 quid to be split!
As if Sundays weren't bad enough, we were robbed of the BIG finish!

That said at least one could recharge the batteries. No day of rest these days for many.

When I first moved here, (1992) all the shops were open on Sunday and all the bars and restaurants too. And of course, people went out to bars on Sunday afternoons to watch the NFL. There's no such thing as a traditional Sunday dinner here, people would be out at noon drinking and eating in bars all day. It was so weird to me. I remember thinking "why don't they do this on Saturdays?"

Few guys in work went on a coach trip to Savvas club (Chepstow) about the same time as Bullseye was popular to see Bernard Manning but he was ill.
Jim Bowen comes on as his reserve.
The unruly crowd weren't best pleased.
