So where does this fit on our focus on youth policy unveiled a few days ago?

Crazy that 27 is considered youth football at Cardiff

That goes hand in hand with the club's new transfer philosophy of finding good young players in an attempt to ramp up the value within the squad.

Since the summer, Cardiff have brought in eight players and only one - Kieffer Moore - has been over the age of 25.

However, Cardiff are not simply going to chop the head off the team and go gung-ho in creating an entire first-team squad of players under the age of 23.

They would ideally like a hybrid squad, with more experienced players still in situ to bring through exciting youngsters, just fewer of them than in recent years. With Cardiff's average age of their squad now at 27.7 years of age, they appear to be driving the age down and striking a better balance.

This would be our second player over aged of 25 in nine signings and, while we're still focusing on younger players, meets the brief of creating a more balanced squad.

If Mick thinks he's a player to improve our fortunes and on a good deal he's not going to turn him down just because of a general transfer strategy.

I disagree In 5 permanent signings, 2 of them are over 25, 2 are mid twenties and one is 21

Our 4 loan signings (which make up the 9) are all between 21 and 23 but who gives a shit about loaning youngsters as they’ll be gone at the end of the season - and the players we’ll be left with (Watters aside) will all be over 25.

It all not a focus on youth at all, It’s just slightly more progressive than Warnocks policy

One of the main points of focusing on youth is to have a younger, more dynamic matchday squad. Does that change if the players are on loan?

Sure but to be the bigger main point of focussing on youth is developing our own assets for future sell on value, not just developing other teams assets

    It says so in that article posted above ;

“ Cardiff feel their academy has a lot of potential and that is why they have overhauled the structure. They like the Brentford model of identifying young talent, progressing them to the first team and having a young team packed with potential transfer value.”

Having a permanent team of over 25s with all the under 25s being loans is not a youth policy planning for the future.

It's not a "focus on youth" though. It's supposed to be a transfer policy to bring in younger players who will develop during their time here and become potential saleable assets.

Having young loan players doesn't appear in any youth-orientated transfer policy that I've ever seen.

I should have read this before posting. It's put much better than my post.

I do not think Jonny Williams would add much. A bit of a journeyman who hasn’t succeeded inmost places

I like the idea of building a base comprising Wales players, but Williams is well past his best.
