The night Whitts showed he was something special.

Great bit of skill to beat Graham Alexander in the build up to the fourth goal;-

This game always comes to mind, when thinking of Whitt’s.

Hard ground to get this type of result from, never mind a hat-trick

Strange not to see Whitt’s taking penalties and free kicks.

What skill to set up Chop’s goal.

We were privileged to have Whitt’s

Whitts was class. It's a wonder how we managed to hold on to him for so long.

I know it's petty in the grand scheme of things, but still pissed off we haven't given Whitts a send off because of COVID.

When you look back, how that side never gained promotion is mystifying.

Great game. Great ending too, my nerves were absolutely shot! Remember groaning at the 5(?) mins off added on time, the lad next to me said "don't worry, they need two goals", they immediately scored and everyone just glared at him

To slightly misquote Corporal Jones, "they didn't like it up them" - a bit frail mentally and also judging by what you hear on that Jon Parkin podcast, the traditional November slump was not a coincidence.

He was simply wonderful. It was a pleasure to watch him play. So sad.

I have a DVD on my shelf that was made about Graham Kavanagh surely Whitts deserves one - one for the club to get hold of as part of any memorial tribute etc for when we are back in he ground - surely players would be queuing up to contribute to this as would fans in terms of buying it.?

Got quite nostalgic watching that! Loved that era, and that side. Johnson's celebrations

One of my favourite disallowed goals at the death there, definitely offside BIG SCREEN or no BIG SCREEN

Thanks for posting that. I’m totally with you. When it happened I kept rewinding it to show my son, who was 14 at the time, that piece of skill for the fourth goal. Chopra had been his favourite player up until that point... it was always Whitts from that point forward.

The shirt-off celebration fail at the end was quite funny. Whitts a different class.

That 4th goal is one of my favourite ever City goals. The movement that led up to it was so smooth, just like watching Man City ! How we never got promoted with that side is a mystery but maybe the dressing room was not as united as it was under Warnock for instance. Skill in abundance but something else must have been missing.

Oh to have a Whitts and a Chopra in the side today!

Re: The night Whitts showed he was something special.

It's one of those moments that really stays fresh in my mind that piece of skill. If you asked me who had scored I probably wouldn't have remembered but will always remember that skill.

Whitts death is one that still hurts, I've not experienced too much death in my life and that given what a young man he was.

Also I felt quite protective over him as there were some fans around me in the stadium in the last few years who used to slag him off. That and although I never met him used to spend 2 hours with him every week for 10 years

Head and shoulders above everyone else.
