Who remembers the pitch at Somerton Park and seeing the players having problems when taking corners when the ball would roll away due the champfering effect from the speedway riders who had cut the corners?

They had bits of that brown rough ‘Welcome’ mat by the corner flags level with the grass.

Somerton Park is the only ground I've been to where the terracing at one end (the Cromwell Road end) seemed to get lower the further back you went on it
