I was lucky enough to see him at St David's Hall some years ago (15-20 years maybe?).

I think of him as the 'Easy Listening' end of blues. Too smooth for me.

I saw him then and in the early 80s in London on the bill with either George Thorogood or Albert Collins, I don't remember who was topping the bill, but all were good.

Not in his final time in Cardiff at the CIA. That was the second time I'd seen him and it was no where near as good as the first time. That last time there was too much incoherent rambling between songs.

I think its fair to say you saw him as a very old , fragile man , in decline

I first saw him in 1985 as a student at Manchester Apollo , a venue of around 2500 seats , very tight and intimate

    Amazing gig

I proposed to my wife at a BB King Concert. He's got a lot to answer for !

But a fabulous guitar player and character.

I saw Robert Cray live at Glastonbury in '86, and found him boring, turgid and bland. I say that as someone who loves the blues and especially blues rock bands with Free and Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac being two of the greatest bands of all time.

Here's one of the great blues masters, one of the true legends along with John Lee Hooker, Elmore James, and Muddy Waters

I had tickets for a BB King gig at Alexandra Palace in 1980 - the a fire at the venue put paid to that.

Robert Cray is OK but I prefer my blues guitarists to have a lot more attack in their playing, people like Buddy Guy and Freddie King.
