Thread: Midfielder option?

  1. #1

    Midfielder option?

Ben Woodburn has had a good preseason with Liverpool and whilst I accept that we’re skint, if clubs from Denmark and Greece can afford him, then why can’t we?

No idea if hes anywhere near Championship standard. After seeing Joe Allen an Morrell this summer and us having no better options makes me think there are better PL loan options.

If he’s not too expensive why not ?
In an ideal world we could use a creative midfield player more than anything else , although I’m increasingly gaining faith that MM has got a plan and we might do much better than anyone expects.

    Morrell’s just joined Portsmouth.

Well better than you expected. First 5 nil hammering avoided.😂

Not sure what happened to Woodburn. He looked like a massive talent when he first came on the scene, but he barely got a look in at Blackpool last season.

I’ve read some hints about off field antics, but I suppose you’ll always get those sort of rumours when someone who looked a top prospect as a teenager doesn’t kick on as expected.

We've sorted the midfield option by signing Marley Watkins?

Seriously though what has he done to deserve any form of contract - what I saw at the Southampton game he shouldn't have been allowed to change after these and just shown the door

What does this say to youngsters who are vying for places when we spunk money, however small it maybe between now and end of August, on someone who is patently no good.

Wonder if the journos at Wales on line will ask the rationale behind this??

Jobe Bellingham on the bench for Brum tonight, aged 15. Jude didn't make his debut until he was 16

How anyone on here has the gall to criticise City for signing an experienced Championship midfield/attacker for three weeks (who then goes on to score two goals on his debut) for what is probably very little money, is beyond me. Nothing better to do obviously.

    3rd

No gall from me but you answer the question yourself - what's the point for 3 weeks when we have a crop of youngsters coming through who would benefit from game time compared to a 30 year old who will be nothing better than a squad filler whether it be for 3 weeks or 3 months

Poor signing for me - just my opinion and I very rarely criticise the club or players but this just doesn't make sense to me

As for two goals tonight - as the saying goes - one swallow doesn't make a porn film

Exactly. It’s not like we need to sign experience to help the kids our squad has plenty of leaders and senior pros.

A nonsense signing which probably stopped another of our youngsters making his professional debut tonight.

Do you find everything the club do positive?

At least Watkins hasn’t taken the number 9 shirt.

The real reason for his signing is to continue our annual raid on Bristol City!

I don't see no harm in giving him a few weeks contract to see how he does and maybe just some cover

Cover for who? Vassell? Everyone else is for aren't they. If we were low on cover, why not keep whyte until the end of the window and them loan him out. Why loan our own ayers out then get others in on a month contract?

Why didn't mick the prick say from the start it was a trial? Was only a few weeks back he said the lad was only training with us to keep fit. Make your mind up Mick.
