Does anybody else collect these books? I’ve inherited volumes 1-33 from my grandparents. I’ve just found out there are 36 in the series so I’m disappointed not to have the full set. I was fascinated by these books in the 90s when I visited my nan!

They're great books. I think both my grandfathers are pictured in them - both sitting in charabancs on a works day out 🙂

A photo book of Butetown, showing the area in the old days of tiger bay , the demolition of old housing , the building of Tower blocks etc

Loads of photos of people of all backgrounds at school , in the pubs , socialising

I've been collecting them slowly over the years, and almost have the set, but am missing books 27, 28, 29 and 35. Was recently quoted £80 per book, for the missing ones. I passed on that - too much for me.

Try charity shops, once they open

I’ve seen quite a few on sale in the second hand bookshops in Hay on Wye. Perhaps it may not be too long before they reopen.

I have a pristine copy of 'The Little Book of Cardiff' if you want it. I haven't read it myself and it was sent to me by the publisher free of charge.

Number 32 in the series, photo 94. Championship Shield winners Stacey Road 1907/8. My great uncle front row, left. Fred Keenor, who lived two streets away, in the centre with ball and shield. Sadly, great uncle died on the Somme, mortally wounded on his first night at the front.

I think you'll be surprised what people dump in charity shops.

Make quite a bit on porcelain figures and the such, from these shops.

Families are just to quick to dump mums/dads/grannies/grand-dads/aunties/uncles, stuff, to get the house empty to sell it.

Jewelry is another money spinner. (it's not brass, it's GOLD)

Laugh all you want, you would be surprised by the amount of Whitefriars glass, the odd looking piece of Troyka, that turns up in Charity shops.

Then straight off to Anthemion Auctions, with a slice going to Help for Heroes
