a pint of snake bite after the football pre 8pm on a saturday could be had for 50p in the philharmonic circa 1984-86

used to live in there most friday and saturday nights back then too

Petrol for 4/11d a gallon, 6d for Saturday morning cinema and 1 shilling to see the City.

I recall my dad getting a pounds-worth of petrol - about 4 gallons.

I was quite late geeting my own car as I was in London - expensive to insure, nowhere to park, etc.
Eventually got one in 1985 after my second son eas born- petrol a whopping £1.65 - ish per gallon!
