300,000 per year in the UK at the moment apparently. Over 7 million have done at least one of the awards since its inception apparently.

    Not a bad achievement

I just can't believe a 99 year old bloke has died

The NHS is on its knees and needs to take a long hard look at itself

    Ashamed to be British

Seven and a half hours of tributes to Philip Windsor in Parliament today. Similar sessions in the devolved assemblies/parliaments.

Lords to be paid Ł162 'attendance allowance' for making video call tributes for the Duke of Edinburgh.

Good job there's nothing else for our elected representatives to be dealing with! Or just maybe (as my other half said yesterday) this all smacks of a cynical exercise in burying (ha!) bad news.

    Ashamed to be British too.

    The last paragraph reads:

"And in a sign that the BBC is destined to be criticised by all sides, 116 people wrote to the corporation over the weekend to complain that it was making it too easy to complain about its coverage."

Some Tory complained that a complaint option wouldn't have been available for a left wing event, but what would that be? The May Day bank holiday?

They idolised Prince Philip and at first I thought it was a wind up.
    It was quite surreal.

Another said: “It was sad news Prince Philip [sic] died on Friday and I understand the BBC had to acknowledge the fact but on every single one of its channels? Why [not] just put it on one channel for those that want to listen to that drivel and the rest of us can have a bit of music.”

Come on own up, which one of you was it?

National Rail turns its website monochrome "in respect" to Philip, colourblind users no longer able to use it

I feel that I have lost a member of a semi-deified group of people who are put on a pedestal merely due to their being born in the right bed.

It's good to see a subject (note not citizen) know their place. I haven't received my free cap yet so I can doff the sh*t out of it on Saturday. Must be in the post.

I just realised this sounds uncannily like an M&S advert....or is it S&M?....I get confused with all the self-flagellation we have to do this week.
