Hopefully be built on the existing site, but they'll probably find and area of outstanding natural beauty to make way for it.

    Absolutely no doubt about that.

They will probably decide to build it on Heath park.....anything to do with the WAG is dangerous territory they are dumb as fu ck.
I’ve already heard they’ve started talking about compulsory purchase orders on 1 block of houses right by the hospital on allensbank rd, I doubt there is much truth in it though. There is also a good few redundant buildings across the site which begs the obvious, why don’t they knock them down and rebuild it?

    This only chestnut...
The stories regarding a 'new' UHW have been around for a while, but the cost will be kicked down the road for years, in the same way that plans for an M4 relief road have been. The Send is not going to fund it, nor will they provide the land, until they absolutely have to.
In the last six months, a 400 bed unit was constructed at UHW, to allow for any Covid upsurge. This replaced the almost-totally-unused field hospital that was built at great expense at the Millennium Stadium.
This Unit arrives in purpose-built modular format, and has a planned life of 50 years. So no immediate bed problems then. If only they had the staff to man it. But that's a different story.

I think they will build it a little birdy told me that its complex site with the new children hospital and the sponsorship that received .

The rear of the wards are a lot or run down admin blocks , there is also a thought they could take away all the car parking space that runs in front of A and E and around the site and build on that , access to the hospital would be by public transport including park and ride basis as per some other major cities .

Another option is the land on Cardiff Gate , where the large dutch garden centre sits ,guess sit could be reclaimed ?

The existing site is a terrible location, it may well be on the A48 but it affects all surrounding areas of Heath, Cathays and Roath. It would be far better to build alongside the M4 and have access from the motorway to serve an expanding Cardiff for years to come. Llandough serves the Vale and is not at all ideally placed. Junction 33 and 32 offer the best options in my opinion. Then do something with the original CRI to serve the south of Cardiff.

I don't think it is terrible, yes there is an impact on the nearby areas, but the same would be true wherever you put it.

It's on the A48 and the A470, the 2 main arterial roads into Cardiff, and is slap bang in the centre of the city.

You can get there from Culverhouse cross, Gwaelod Y Garth, Marshfield, or Cardiff Bay within 20 minutes

I've been told by a little birdy, someone in the know, a porter that works on ward A1 that the WAG are going to build it centrally, in an area of Heath land where people go for the enjoyment of nature, sport, exercise, recreation etc. Exactly as they did in 1969. I'm fuming.

totally agree especially good access for ambulance access for all the main faster roads east west and further you have to build in those coming in on specific emergencies and specialised care from Newport , Valley other areas not just a City Centre access issue ,there are direct express bus routes like X30 in as well, my daughter gets It from Newport hits Gabalfa within 30 minutes
