    Match facts

    • Reading are unbeaten in 10 matches against Cardiff in all competitions (W4 D6) since losing 2-0 in the league in November 2015.
    • Cardiff are looking for their first away league win over Reading since November 2011, winning 2-1 under Malky Mackay.
    • Reading have won three of their last four at home in the league (D1), scoring eight and conceding just twice in this spell. The last time the Royals went five league games unbeaten at the Madejski Stadium was between January and March 2019 (W3 D2).
    • After going unbeaten for their first 11 league games under Mick McCarthy (W7 D4), Cardiff have now only won one of their last six in the Championship (D2 L3).
    • Mick McCarthy has lost his last six away league matches against Reading, since leading Sunderland to a 2-0 win in March 2004.

Swift is expected to be back tonight. He’s only played nine times this season. He will be on the bench. When he has played we have won six and drawn three. He has been a big miss.
I expect we will line up something like...

    Rafael
    Yiadom
    Holmes
    Moore
    Richards
    Rinomhota
    Laurent
    Ejaria
    Olise
    Meite
    Puscas

    With Joao benched

I hope Ralls is in central midfield and not in a No 10 role alongside Wilson (or at LWB with Ng at RWB and Sang in CM)

    5 - 3 - 2 ?

So this is not the match where MM throws the youngsters in - except Colwill on 85 minutes.

Looking at where he was v Blackburn I think he will be a AM.

Should be in CM instead of Pack or Vaulks.

The only thing I can think of is that MM's realised results dropped off when he spoke to the press about challenging for play-offs so now has taken all pressure off with his comments but privately thinks we have a chance if we win tonight.

If we really are out of the play-off races then it's only Brown at LCB and Ralls as AM whose performances are of any interest. Guess you don't learn much by making too many changes

Reading side as per above apart from Joao being preferred to Puscas. Joao is lucky to start. He has been dreadful over the past couple of months.

It might help shift the last ones in the club shop.

    Decent start with good pressure.

Wouldn't it be nice though to vary it a bit, like somebody hitting the byline out wide and crossing the ball like the old days, Keiffer would score plenty
