    OT - worrying news story

    https://amp.theguardian.com/media/20...mpression=true

seems as though the government have vetoed the appointment of 2 people to the board of Channel 4, and it suggests it is to get some people in there more supportive of the government.
a very unusual step and sets a very bad precisely in my opinion

I don't understand how anyone can deny it giving it's already been happening.

It's another "you can't say brexit will be bad because it hasn't happened yet", it only makes sense if you have no foresight and unable to process the actual evidence.

However, ministers have instead decided to seek new candidates, as part of a wider push that has led to the appointment of Conservative allies to leading media roles.

Re: OT - worrying news story

    - Channel 4 replaces an absent Boris Johnson with block of ice in leadership debate on climate change with Michael Gove and Stanley Johnson descending to argue that a non-leader should be allowed to take part

    - Michael Gove accuses Channel 4 news reporter of doctoring evidence on an ipad which shows under CCHQ (if anyone can tell me what second C stands for please do) twitter page Tories had mislead public by acting as a genuine fact-checking site

    - Channel 4 board suggestions made by Ofcom vetoed by Conservative government.

    Nothing to see here.

During leadership debates during the last election the Tory twitter page re-modelled itself as a fact-checking page and gave commentary on opposition statements.

Channel 4 interviewed Gove shortly afterwards and said that when talking to people in the street they had not known it was one of the main Conservative webpages believing it instead to be a genuine fact-checking tool, presumably the implication being it had been deliberately misleading, but Gove said the Ipad showing a screen shot of the re-model could have been doctored and people know what the CCHQ twitter handle stood for anyway so majority wouldn't have been fooled.

I don't think many would be able to work out what the second C in CCHQ stands for so, imo, it's another example of how this government don't like how challenging Channel 4 have been recently which has probably contributed to todays decision.

you don't see a problem of the government vetoing who's on the board of channel 4?

They’ve already got one of their cronies as head of BBC.
