    Buffoon Boris interfering in football

    Absurd.
Let them bugger off to a super League.
    Most fans will be happy.
Sad for the fans of the six clubs here mind.
I hate the big 6. They spoil the competition in our leagues. Good riddance.

Yes the government should intervene to protect the interests of football in this country. It contributes too much culturally and economy wise to just be ignored. If it means a move to fan ownership (pipe dream I know) or at the very least a reevaluation of how football clubs are run in this country then great.

As much as I dislike him and his dodgy Tory pals, he'd be daft to leave this down to the football authorities, they have no power.

Quite obviously most fans wouldn't be happy. You have misread the situation almost as badly as the idiots who tried to set up the ESL. Whats the point of going for promotion if you cant play against the likes of Liverpool, Man Utd etc

Let's see what happens next , if government back out we know it was grabbing on the coat tails of a populist moment .

Tracey Crouch has a job on her hands now applying new governance .

Great to see Boris Joh son acting so decisively and dynamically in relation to this. The only time he acts this quickly usually if he’s shagging some floozie on tax payers dough.

Tracey Crouch has been appointed to lead the review into football governance by Oliver Dowden. I don't think it has been very widely reported, but I have been unwell for a few days and done more lying on the sofa feeling sorry for myself and listening to the radio than usual so I heard it somewhere.

One of the governments better decisions. Tracy Crouch seemed to be a decent minister when she was there.

I've seen Dowden mentioned disparagingly sometimes as a bit of a nonentity but he seems Ok to me as well (watch him prove me wrong now!). I didn't hear or see him on the radio or TV this morning but according to LBC he has been expressing a liking for the German system where (I think) fans own 51% of the club) so perhaps this points the way towards the governments thinking.

    Then again..........
