    Re: Jonny Williams

Why do you keep signing Jonny?

Mick McCarthy:"I’d have signed him permanently at Ipswich if I could. He was amazing there with us and he has been fabulous with Wales.

"It was just an opportunity to have a good player, I thought. Out of contract this summer.

"I hope he will be a great signing for the club."

    Maybe a good signing permanently?

"It is a permanent signing. The fact he plays with Kieffer and Harry Wilson (with Wales), I think it’s a good deal."

    What does he bring?

"Energy, invention, creativity. That little bit of something special, he can find a pass and is always looking to create. He can drive you up the pitch and dribble.

"He gets a lot of kicks. He brings a smile about the place, a lovely kid."

Are there some injury problems with Jonny?

Mick McCarthy: "He did with us at Ipswich, he dislocated his shoulder twice. He has had a kick today in training!

"He is robust in how he plays, but he just gets real bad kicks, bad knocks. He protects the ball, dribbles and people take it out on him.

"He did his shoulder, his ankle.

"They weren't little niggles, they were bad tackles. He got bundled into the hoardings on the side of the pitch."

Do you have any worries about Jonny going from League One to Championship?

Mick McCarthy: "None at all. He is playing international football with Wales and been one of the good players for them."

Is Jonny Williams a doubt to face Bristol City on Saturday?

Mick McCarthy:"We will see tomorrow. He got clubbed in training in the back of his knee.

"I’m hoping he will be OK."

Are any other players an injury concern?

Mick McCarthy: "Max Watters has trained and Junior Hoilett has trained. They have all trained.

"We can add them to the numbers available."

What is the over-under on the number of minutes that he'll play for us this season?

    Re: Jonny Williams

some on here will still try and defend the signing of "joniesta". I am willing to bet he doesn't start more than 5 games

    Hmmm interesting.
If we didn't know that the club were trying their very best to live up to their promised vision for the club you'd swear that the signing of JW was one of trying to appease.

Let's hope he's able to pop to training and the problem doesn't hinder his ability to smile.

    Re: Jonny Williams

Even with his injury record, I think the signing is probably a good one. I can understand the caution but not the total negativity.

When he is fit and firing he is a very good player - and does things that no other midfielder in the squad does. Tricky and direct.

He is not the same as Tomlin, but I can see Williams and Tomlin competing for the game-changing second half sub role - whichever one of them is fit enough at the time to be on the bench! Hopefully with Wilson as the undroppable starter.

Me neither. People acting like we signed him crocked - he's played 25 games this season, was one of Wales' best players in the last few international windows, and is still only 27.

Not like we've signed him on a 5-year Warnock special either.

I don't think its that so much but the fact he's the only guy we have brought in since MM was appointed.
We are in desperate need of a midfielder and we get a guy with a suspect history of injuries who gets crocked even before he kicks a ball.

I am still hopeful, just disappointed.

    Re: Jonny Williams

Just give a chance to him before a ball has been kicked.
