Fan Engagement - 2019-20 ranking - not good reading!

Not seen this site or table before. But (fair or not) it doesn't make good reading for Cardiff City.

We are ranked 81st out of 91 clubs in the EPL/EFL. Exeter are 1st, Swansea 28th, Swindon 91st (not sure why only 91 clubs listed)

    https://fanengagement.net/fan-engagement-index/

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56993485

The main categories are: Dialogue, Governance and Transparency.

(Edit - apologies, just seen other thread on this.)

    91 because of Bury?

City given 0 for transparency - is anyone shocked to find us that low? I’m not.

Bit easier when you've only got about 12 fans

Its hardly a surprise though, the club's engagement with the wider community isn't great and hasn't been for a while

How have they reached these figures? I mean, I'm not going to argue but where's the reasoning behind any of it?

How the hell are the jacks 28th? Their useless trust wanted to take the yank owners to court albeit this only rears it’s head when they dint perform on the pitch, so not heard a dickiebird about it this season of course....

I don't think we should put the blame solely on the Club for this as its a two way street. Over the years we have seen some CCFC executives and managers who have engaged...Peter Ridsdale, TG, Malky, and Warnock being notable in this area.

In the past our fan groups have done much to work with the Club via events like the Annual Awards night, Trust events celebrating past teams achievements etc.

What hasn't changed much is the way we interact with the Club executives. We offer the same faces as our representatives and have done for many years, and often our approach has been confrontational.

Look at Newport County Supports Trust as an example. Hardly surprising that they feature highly in fan engagement as the Trust owns most of the Club. As a small Club they have over 1300 Trust members. probably 3 to 4 times what we have at Cardiff. The Board members can only serve for 3 consecutive years, which keeps things fresh.Ours can serve for 12 years. Newport charge much higher Trust membership fees than Cardiff yet people pay because they see value in it.

If we want a better rapport with the Club I believe it's for us to take the initiative and offer fresh ideas and new faces though our representative groups

    Re: Fan Engagement Index

Has anyone on here joined the Fan Engagement Network to see how they have scored the main categories (dialogue, governance and transparency)?

I'm surprised Cardiff are so low in the table. There are clearly major areas for improvement (especially governance) but I didn't think most other clubs were much better. We had the Warnock fan forum tours, the work done by the Foundation, regular fan and charity contact from the squad, and some channels of contact between the Board and the Trust (and less often with selected 'fan representatives' from travel groups etc).

It doesn't add up to much, but neither does it look like near the worst in the 'English' football pyramid!

    Re: Fan Engagement Index

It's hard to see why Cardiff are so low, but without any terms of reference, we're just guessing. It's hard to believe we're really that bad, compared to everyone else?

Anyone know if we’ve historically been this low?

    Re: Fan Engagement Index

Explanation of the index is here: https://fanengagement.net/how-the-sc...t-index-works/

Apparently they submit their findings to clubs for comment and give them an opportunity to request amendments before publishing their final results.
