The first Wembley play-off final was between Swindon and Sunderland. Swindon wore RED and won 1-0.

They were also wearing RED when they beat Leicester 4-3 at Wembley in 1993.

Charlton wore RED when they beat Sunderland on penalties in 1998 after the game had finished 4-4.
