    • This is Spain's 11th appearance at a European Championships. They have won two of the last three and their three tournament victories in total is only equalled by Germany.

    • Their best finish in six previous appearances at the Euros was making the semi-finals on debut as hosts in 1992.
    • Sweden have failed to make it out of the group stages in the last three European Championships. They last made the knockout stages in 2004 before losing a penalty shoot-out to the Netherlands.

Covid issues aside, Spain have a really good chance of going deep into the competition: Morata is capable of scoring against most defences here and their defence and midfield is strong enough to win battles in that area of the pitch. Not got a keeper you'd be fully confident in mind.

They're not going to get beaten up early by travel, heat or playing what can be classed as knock-out football in the group stages against other teams who should go far in the competition. A trip to Glasgow in round of 16 is probably the most they step outside their comfort zone for non-footballing reasons as long as things go to their plan.

Morata is no where near the class of the strikers they had when they were winning things and thats why they won't be near the final.

Spain been poor 2nd half. Morata rightly subbed.

No idea why Isak has been subbed. Been superb looks a real talent. I bet Spain are glad to see the back of him.

Overplaying and can't finish. It's really pretty when it works but Spain are just going to get out-thought and out-fought this tournament.

Euros group stages are way tougher than the World Cup group stages, gruelling from the first game, no cannon fodder.
