Would you say many of those were their clubs' star turns at the time?
My years ago is the Tommy Lawton, Stan Matthews, Nat Lofthouse, Raich Carter, Duncan Edwards etc eras, names that I was brought up hearing about, not so much Matthews, actually saw him play at Ninian Park.
