Can't see Conservative Central Office losing too much sleep over this really.

It’s interesting that a traditional Tory feels more comfortable with a party under Starmer than Johnson.
Shows how far both parties have moved to the ‘right’?
He’s not the only Conservative who has expressed their distrust of Johnson. Dominic Grieve give him pelters in the week about his dishonesty.
Bercow was never a 'traditional ' tory. Labour and conservatives normally take turn about for speaker but when he stood for the post the Conservative party didn't want him, and he was only elected because the labour MPs voted for him.
As soon as he became speaker he became and independent having to resign from his original party and as is tradition, whilst he was speaker no one stood against him in any election.
He actually became a labour MP a week or so ago. Let's see how he does in the next election he stands in.
Traditionally no one stands against the speaker in elections.
From Wikipedia:
On the resignation of Michael Martin in June 2009, Bercow stood successfully in the election to replace him as Speaker. As Speaker, he was obliged to leave the Conservative Party and remain as an independent for the duration of his tenure. He was re-elected unopposed at the commencements of the Parliaments in 2010, 2015 and 2017.[5] This made him the first Speaker since the Second World War to have been elected four times, as well as the first since then to have served alongside four Prime Ministers.[6][7] In September 2019, Bercow declared that he would stand down as Commons Speaker and MP on 31 October; he remained Speaker until being appointed to the Manor of Northstead on 4 November 2019.[8] Having served 10 years as Speaker, Bercow became the longest-serving Speaker since Edward FitzRoy."
From the Parliament website:
Speakers and general elections
Speakers still stand in general elections. They are generally unopposed by the major political parties, who will not field a candidate in the Speaker's constituency. During a general election, Speakers do not campaign on any political issues but simply stand as 'the Speaker seeking re-election'.
Will that do?
All this proves is that Bercow was, after all, always trying to deliberately block Brexit and the will of the people (as was Dominic Grieve). The words two faced and hypocritical come to mind. Labour are welcome to him.
If only there was a forum for this politics stuff.
The Tories defected to UKIP a long time ago so don’t blame him.
If I was Labour i wouldn't have let him join and fecked him off just like Wimbledon tennis club did which he is still seething over.
He's a pompous little twat and comes across like the host of the good ole day's self righteous to the core.
Well done Bercow.
Obviously couldnt stomach the bufoon and co. any longer.
I wish everyone would defect to the democratic alliance party or something
Labour has had it and if it formed a new party in England with the flower power lot , the liberals and moderate tories there might be a chance of giving it to the conservatives right up the back passage
As it stands this country is a one party state
