    Mark Cavendish stage win #31

Written off, 5 years without a win.
What a fecking hero, such a great guy, absolute mega fit.
Not bad for a lad from the rock in the middle of the Irish Sea.

His emotional interview afterwards was quite something. Really pleased for him, his family and those inspired by him.

    I cried!

He’s now favourite for green jersey and might even get the record for stage wins. If he wins again tomorrow , where he’s win before, it’s game in fir green in Paris. I think I’ll cry like a baby if he wins the sprint in Paris.

    It was a remarkable result.
He only made the team after Sam Bennett had to withdraw. Saying that though, he had won 4 stages in the week long Tour of Turkey a month or so ago, so he was showing signs of a return to form.

When he trains on the Island it’s occasionally with the Kennaugh brothers, Jonathan Rae, world super bike champion, Dave Knight, world Enduro champion and some of the other super bike lads. They’re an incredible bunch of super fit elite athletes and incredible to watch.

    Wikipedia:

"Because the Isle of Man is not part of the United Kingdom, its passports do not carry the words United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on the front cover and on the biodata page. In their place, they have the words British Islands: Isle of Man."

He does actually come under the term 'British national' even though he does not come from Great Britain. I was being a tad playful.

My boss said, he’s not Welsh, not English, not Irish, he’s Manx the same as me, I’m not arguing with her.
It does say British Islands : Isle of Man on her passport.
They we’re never in the EU either and have a trade agreement with both sides of the Irish border.
Our milkman used to be the first minister.

Kieran Tierney also Manx but Scotland took him due to his parentage.

They could affiliate & play in the Euros but chose the Northern Counties League instead.

And there are people like the ex-England striker Matt Le Tissier, who was from The Channel Isles which are also considered to be a Crown Dependency but not part of England, Great Britain, The United Kingdom, the EU or even the British Isles.

Chapeau Cav, as already said i also had a tear when he won Tuesday, favourite for green now and in with a shout at the cannibals record, absolute legend in my eyes and what resolve to come back from what could have been a career ending illness. i rate him the greatest ever british cyclist above Froome, G and Wiggins and without doubt the best ever road sprinter,
dream scenario would to win the sprint in green on the Champs-Elysees to equal or surpass Merckx
    we can but dream

I’m a grown man in my 60s and I have tears in my eyes over a bloke riding a push bike.

Cav was in a very dark place 18 months ago. 1 stage was amazing, 2 is beyond, the Green jersey would be a dream.

The moral here is keep believing.
