Thread: Anti Cat Alarms To Protect My Birds

Anti Cat Alarms To Protect My Birds

since lockdown I have set up a 6 foot bird table in my back yard and its great pleasure watching sparrows , robins and the like feeding

The problem is the local cats are hanging around and if legal I would shoot them but its not so I am going to have to bring in some defences.

My next door neighbour who owns 3 of the bloody things says just shoot them with a water pistol but they are very sly creatures and its very hard to catch them at it .

Others have suggested orange peel , water bottles , mirrors , lemon spray etc and some have suggested getting a cat which is out of the question as I hate the feckers

Anyone have one of those cat sonic alarm things ? Any luck and can you suggest a model that will see the little buggers off ?

    Cheers

I used to feed the birds, but stopped when I saw a rat on the bird table.

Anyone know how to deter them?

How about not setting up a potential death trap for the birds purely for your own pleasure?

Its not the cats though I agree they are a pain its rats at night id be worried about.

Bird feed and its not necessary anyway can attract rats.

Why do you let their owners shit in your back yard?

Just get a bird feeder on a pole, or one that hangs from a tree.

Can you still buy tubs of lion shit from zoo shops - supposed to put moggies off. No good if it dries out though.

Otherwise there are a lot of plants that cats don't like that work alongside other 'anti cat' stuff.

    Cat deterent plants.jpg

    Cat deterrent plants:

Scaredy cat plant (coleus canina), lavender, rosemary, rue, pennyroyal, curry herb plant (Helichrysum italicum), lemon balm and thyme. And thorny bushes.

yes people 24 or younger can often hear higher frequencies.
it probably isn't a bad thing either to deter 24 year old females from approaching Sludge's garden
