I remember him causing us lots of problems for Plymouth shortly before he signed for Ipswich. Although he was tall, he wasn't just a target man and I think he'd have done well in the modern game.

I saw him playing for Portsmouth in the second division in the mid 80s when I lived there. Everyone was excited when he arrived, but the excitement quickly wore off, he was way past his best by then.
Not got memories as far back as some but I remember him in that good Ipswich side which included Woodcock, Muhren, Theissen, Mills etc... which didn't quite manage to win the league.
He was a decent player in an England team which promised much but delivered little.
RIP.
