I used to live near Colnbrook, a village literally a 'stone's throw' from Heathrow airport. There is a pub called 'The Ostrich', which I think dates back to the 1100's (I can't be arsed to verify right now at 2.45am here!) Apparently, it is the second oldest pub in the UK.
Above the bar, was a signed letter of acknowledgement from HRM.

If you entered by the main entrance, you would need to duck your head.. folk were obviously smaller in stature back then.
