    20800 crowd today

Shock horror - just under 21000 people actually managed to buy a ticket or season ticket today and get into the ground to watch the game. Reports of the demise of online sales, the ticket office and app must be greatly exaggerated !

As it happens, today’s was the smallest crowd for a Severnside derby at the CCS since 2015.

Would that be the 2014-2015 or 2015-2016 season season?

We've had two seasons without an attended Severnside derby since 2015 of course.

Not quite. The attendance at Derby v Forest was 22,991.

Just watched the highlights of yesterday's game on Sky. The crowd in the family stand looked very sparse. Does anyone know why that was? I was under the impression that the ticket prices for that area were good and it always used to be well populated, but yesterday there seemed to be very few people in that stand.

I wonder if sitting relatively close to what happened with the Millwall fans last week has put people off.

Well it wasn't empty from my seat within the stadium. The Canton end was nearly full (including the corners), the Ninian stand was 3/4 full, the away end was full, the lower section of the new stand was pretty full and there were more than last game in the family stand and grandstand. The stadium does hold over 33000 seats, in case you didn't know. Perhaps you were looking at the picture before the game started or at half time ?

For those not up on Bristol City history, while Cardiff City were in Championship in both 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 our opponents today didn't appear until the latter season.

We've had three home games against Bristol City with a higher crowd than today since 2015-2016 all occurring under Warnock. One with Bamba taking center stage, one in our promotion year and one post-relegation where we were amongst favourites to go back up.

    Re: 20800 crowd today

I see that the ‘crowd deniers’ are out in force again tonight. Totally missing the point as well. 20800 people managed to get a ticket for the game, so perhaps the ticketing ‘problems’ are not as great as has been made out. I would also like someone to explain to me why the club would need (or want) to inflate the attendance figures for individual games. They know exactly how many people go through the electronic turnstiles at every match.

I can do that for you. Attendances in the Football League (and the Premier League) are declared in terms of the number of tickets sold (including season tickets) as opposed to the number of people who physically pass through the turnstiles. It’s been that way for decades and is standard practice throughout the leagues.

Be about 10/ 12000 by the end of the season unless things pick up.

Surely the guaranteed 5-0 drubbings will bring in thousands of away fans though?
