Another auction item with local interest...

Happened to come across this item 'The Cardiff RFC History and Statistics 1876-1906' which is a lot in an upcoming auction. Forecast of what it will fetch isn't great so could be worth consideration by someone with general sporting interest especially in local S Wales sports.

Lots of other interesting sporting memorabilia at the same auction. Worth a look through.

Hmm. On the same auction website (page 9) is a CARDIFF CITY ORIGINAL SHARE CERTIFICATE, ISSUED ON 6TH DECEMBER 1910

Should the Club be made aware of this one?

Crikey! Also page 10, Lot 491 is a ROYAL BOX EDITION OF THE ARSENAL V CARDIFF CITY FA CUP FINAL PROGRAMME

    https://www.invaluable.com/auction-l...f-c-6FF4AF1882

    Description
Royal Box edition of the Arsenal v Cardiff City F.A. Cup Final programme played at Wembley Stadium 23rd April 1927, navy hardback cover with gilt Royal crest and navy fabric tassel, four-page paper inset programme with back page team line-ups, in good clean condition Cardiff City defeated Arsenal 1-0.

Looks like bids to start at 1400 and estimated to fetch 2800-3000. Nice item for well-to-do City supporters.

I understand the Trust keep an eye on these auction sites and keep the club informed of what is coming up for sale. Some of this stuff would be ideal for the proposed museum. Whether the club does anything about it is another thing however. To be fair they did at an auction in Feb 2020 to the tune of about £40k but you got the impression they were buying stuff they should have had in the first place.

Thanks, Enoch, and no, I hadn't followed that thread to the reference of these auction items, thanks for drawing my attention

Can someone be sure to contact the Supporters Trust of someone at the Club about these items, a significant part of our Club's history methinks. Otherwise I can track down Wayne Nash (who I understand is still at the Club) who I got to know years ago from a different direction.

I understand the Trust have informed Wayne Nash of these items plus another recent auction containing bound volumes of City programmes dating back to the 20s. I believe he passes the info on to Steve Borley. I suppose the concern is that we may be so cash strapped that these items will disappear into private collection. Collectors of Programmes of Premier League teams will pay top dollar for old programmes so Arsenal and Villa collectors will be very interested in these latest lots

Graham Budd auctions are well known for locating very good stuff. With high prices estimated too, probably way above what they are worth. Buyers have to pay about 25% fees + VAT on top of the sale price. The 1927 Cup Final special leather bound one will no doubt go to an Arsenal collector. the 1910 Coty v Villa is way overpriced byt about three times it's value. It come sup fairly often and the Cup Final ones appear pretty much at most auctions.

I'd like to know the source of these items.
