they aren't correct. the whole plasnewydd area, of which city road is a part, has less violent and sexual crime than that per month.
there are some drug users housed in the area and on Newport road, but the vast majority of them don't cause an issue for anyone.
I'd guess that most of the violent incidents in the area are drunk people fighting in pubs or outside kebab shops etc.
I have never heard of someone going for a nice meal with the family at one of the many nice restaurants along there and being set upon by a gang.
the way some of you describe it, it makes it sound like a no-go area, I can assure you I'm not that brave and I've never had any issues there
but as you've been told, a few times, those stats dont represent that one road alone.
If i typed in "violent crime at Cardiff city games" and the only link that came up showed violent crime for the whole city i wouldnt then use those stats to say that Cardiff city fc is a violent club.
And if i did, and someone told me the stats weren't representative, i wouldn't then say "well google told me so, therefore..."
you've been told why those stats are unrepresentative as they cover a large area, nothing wrong with reassessing your view with this new info

according to this, in July of this year there were 95 violent and sexual offences within 0.5 miles of city road (which covers a large chunk of the city centre!)
none seem to be recorded on city road itself during that month, mostly seem to be on residential streets
City Road is a pretty safe place IMO. A bit scruffy perhaps. Underperforming, definitely. But not dangerous.
The area I live in has a mix of families, junkies etc as all areas do and its safe. They had a stabbing not so long back which, considering all the zombies you see walking about in daylight to get their fix (they tend to come from far and wide for some reason) is quite a surprise. I suppose some people see "chavvies" and expect trouble to follow but it doesn't seem to be the case round here, just monged out idiots walking the street who say a polite little "alright bro" as they walk past and cross the road and stop arguing if they see kids or the elderly
just off to a Chinese supermarket on city road.
wish me luck.
