Obviously no one likes good news, but in the absence of Mick's departure, the UK's GDP growth from Apr-June 2021 vs Jan-Mar 2021 is the second best in Europe.

Loads of Covid caveats, and it could be wiped out by slower growth when the summer's data comes out but this is tentatively good news, as all countries were in the midst of the second wave at this point and our economies were opening up at various rates.

Maybe the UK made some of the right decisions?

Ireland 6.3%
UK 5.5%
Portugal 4.5%
Netherlands3.8%
Austria 3.6%
Greece 3.4%
Denmark 2.8%
Hungary 2.7%
Italy 2.7%
EU 2.1%
Switzerland 1.8%
Belgium 1.7%
Germany 1.6%
France 1.1%
Spain 1.1%
Sweden 0.9%
Mick McCarthy -46.4%

Annually, we are top in Europe, growing 23.6% in Apr- June 2021 compared to Apr-June 2020, although it should be noted that our economy declined more than most in the 2nd quarter of 2020.
