Thread: FT: SWANSEA CITY 3 - 0 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread

Re: SWANSEA CITY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread

MM comments about staying compact don't fill me with too much optimism.
Playing to limit the opposition again rather than to our strengths, whatever they are outside of set pieces.

Fear the worst, hope for the best.

Not many nerves and very low key, will probably kick in at kick off tomorrow.

    MATCH STATS

    • Swansea City have lost consecutive home league matches against rivals Cardiff City once before, losing in the 1957-58 and 1958-59 seasons to the Bluebirds.
    • There has only been four goals scored in the last four league meetings between Swansea and Cardiff, with Cardiff’s only goal in this run their winning goal from Aden Flint in the last game between the teams.
    • Since the start of last season, Swansea City have kept 26 Championship clean sheets, the most of any side (excluding play-offs), with the Swans leading the way for clean sheets this season too (six).
    • Cardiff City have lost their last five league matches, last losing six on the bounce in November 1985 under Alan Durban.
    • Cardiff striker Kieffer Moore hasn’t scored in any of his last nine Championship appearances, his longest run without a goal since a 13-game stretch between May 2018 and October 2019 at Barnsley and Wigan – the Welshman ended this run with a goal against Swansea in November 2019, though it was in a 2-1 defeat. There hasn’t been a Welsh scorer in a league match between Cardiff and Swansea since February 2011, a Craig Bellamy winner for Cardiff at Liberty Stadium.

Surely to goodness MM wont play 5 centre backs again....or will he?
Morrison, our captain, should be first name on team sheet, but his performances this season have been well below par. Will he come back in?
Quite honestly I haven't a clue. What i do want is for our strikers to press the Swansea defence, something we will not be able to do unless we play 3 forwards, probably Moore, Giles and Bacuna.
In midfield Pack and Ralls are nailed on, with probably Bowen joining them.

    Score prediction
    0-0

Perhaps it's a double bluff, Mick's doing a Robert Page and saying one thing doing the opposite.

Only 2 other threads on this game here speaks volumes….underwhelmed to put it mildly.

    He's taking the piss now.
5 centre backs after its catastrophic failure last time he tried it, and Bacuna in an attacking role after it's catastrophic failure every time he tries it.

    Laughably predictable

A team picked purely on the basis of trying not to lose - Classic Mick

Only one small flaw in the plan - it's bollox

Oh well let's hope for a set piece goal and to hang on for 89 minutes against a team on the same amount of points as us (at time of writing)

When will we concede the first goal? I'll guess the 10th minute.

I'd like to know what the players think about being set up to play like this.

Re: SWANSEA CITY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread

Serious question - if we won today with the 5 CB's would people soften towards Mick and his tactics? Personally I just want him gone, I think anything at this point is papering over long term cracks
