Sorry to post a link the the 'Wails on line' page, but it looks like the Tredegar is finally going to re-open. Only not as a pub...

No surprise there, sign of the times sadly.

Straying out of Splott a little, the Roath Park (on City Road) is going the same way. That's a shame, as it was a real old-fashioned pub.

But barely ever used by locals or students. Can’t really say why either, not like there is an abundance of pubs along city rd.

That place has always seemed empty, going back 30 years. The Exchange at the Town end of city road and that horrible pub, The Poets Corner always seemed to draw a crowd though.

Is there any pubs at all now on city rd?

Just the one. The Ernest Willows is down towards the Newport Road end, then apart from The Tavistock (off to the left on, er, Tavistock Street), there's nothing until you fetch up at The Royal George, on the Albany Rd/Richmond Rd/City Rd junction.
