Ha, ha... Congratulating a jack by pointing out how well "Swansea Town" have done, is one of life's little pleasures. Especially when it annoys them so much, you notice one of their eyes, ever so slightly, begins to twich.

Why don't they get a new badge saying Swansea seven seasons.
What a penis that bald jack is he's the type that nobody likes at work.

Not the decade before that though, they were below us from 2002 until 2010 weren’t they?

I think Swansea spent 6 years on the bounce in the top flight

    We can't match that

I would hardly call the last three and a bit seasons ‘dominant’. Nor were the years prior to 2011. Swansea have been in the top flight a total of 9 seasons since formation and second level 41 seasons, Cardiff City a total of 17 seasons in the top division and 47 in the second level. End of argument really. They are clearly second best

The glamour in football started with the Premier league

We have since it started , spent 2 single seasons in it , several years apart

Swansea had 6 years there and won the league Cup

A lot of the people who can remember when we were a top flight club in the early 60s are dead

That last sentence whilst statistically accurate is a bit harsh.

Not when we go there and play long ball.

Sludge must be taking a beating in this thread if he, who talks in the most unglamorous way possible about how he likes his football, is having to rely on the “glamour” of the Premier League to back up his argument - he sounds like one of those annoying media types who thinks records set in the old First Division are worthless and obsolete these days

    On the contrary

Some people THINK that football started in 1993

What did start was clubs getting huge coverage and lots of wedge

Swansea City have managed to get 6 years in that limelight , we have had two single seasons

And Swansea have won the old league Cup

The argument as to who is the most successful team in recent times in South Wales is surely not even up for debate .

It’s an over simplification, but, I’d say that the following is essentially true regarding City and the jacks in the Premier League era - we were both as bad as each other from 1993 onwards, we were better than them in the noughties and they were better than us in the last decade, while in this decade, we finished above them once, they finished above us once and, although it’s early days yet, look like doing so again this season.

You said Swansea have been the dominant side in Wales for “the last decade at least”. I’d agree with you about the last decade, but it’s much more arguable when it comes to the “at least” part - certainly, any comparison which includes the pre Premier League period as well has to have us as the dominant side.

Swansea City rose from the lower leagues under toshack and were in the top flight in 1982 ?

The last time we were there was 1962 ?

Swansea very recently spent 6 years in the top flight and won the league Cup

I can't see there being any argument here really . We pissed about in the play offs , Swansea won them , we went up and came straight back down , Swansea spent 6 years establishing themselves .
