David Henderson will be on a beach with a Pina Colada in a few months.....
Henderson's mitigation was cringeworthy. Indicating that he would have to rely on his old age pension helped by his wife's teachers pension claiming poverty shows scant regard for the loss of a young promising footballer with a bright future ahead of him all due to his negligence and the pilot's disregard for agreeing to fly the plane unlawfully. I thought Henderson's poor me mitigation was in extremely bad taste. An 18 month sentence was far too light given the disregard Henderson showed for passenger safety.
I think the maximum sentence for this charge is 5 years.
Why his actions, and the results of those actions, dont justify a longer sentence is beyond me.
I agree that he should have got longer, but he also could have walked away with a non-custodial sentence.

A small part of me felt slightly sorry for him.
Read your post so looked at the report and It really is poor. As you say a young man who had his whole life ahead of him was robbed of it.
Hes also considering appealing the sentence/conviction.
He should take this light sentence on the chin.
If he appeals hope they add on a few years.

I would say 18 months for that level of negligence is very low
fuggin premier league footballer.....he should've been on a jet plane with a glass of champers and a medium rare steak....
not on a single engine malibu piper flown by someone who had numerous concerns raised about his ability.....

18 months prison is not justice for Emiliano's family and the defence appealing makes me feel physically sick.

That seems very light considering the loss of life. The agent has a lot to do with this too. He interfered and approached Henderson.
Whilst I agree with your sentiment, unfortunately life doesn't work like that.
I'm not a professional football player so I wouldn't expect to be looked after. I'd be on Easyjet. Paid for by myself. I get the bus to the airport. I'd buy a tuna and cucumber sandwich for a fiver. I'd buy a beer and wait for my flight.
Sala was a record signing for City and should have been treated with far more care.
If I die in a plane crash tomorrow, no one is going to be singing my name down the City. Neil Warnock isn't going to come to my funeral.
Everyone involved fugged up. But Ibbertson and Henderson were the guilty parties.
Do we even know who Sala approached to arrange the doomed flight yet after turning our BA flight down?
