An old work mate of mine played for Ton Pentre that day, his name is Paul Hughes. Was an apprentice at City when Scoular was Manager. Scoular’s training regime was Basically 90% running, very little ball work, according to Paul.

I was there.

My mum is from that part of the world so we frequently went to the social club at Ton Pentre FC for family do’s.

I remember being at the the ground. Remember the build up. But not much about the game.

If I remember right it was a big day up the top of the Rhondda, as a mile up the road Treorchy RFC had drawn Cardiff RFC in the Schweppes Cup. It would have been a no brainier for me as it would be the football every time ,but I was playing that day in the Pontypridd League. I did see us play up there a few years later in the Welsh Cup on a Tuesday afternoon if my memory is correct.
