Thread: Gridlock

    Gridlock

According to the radio, Cardiff is at a standstill. Gridlock from Grangetown, up through Pontcanna and Llandaff, Gabalfa, Cathays, Newport Road, etc.
What on earth is going on?

I would hazard a guess at the council blocking off roads, plus putting in cycle lanes for non-existent cyclists

The situation around the Coryton roundabout is particularly stressful - and has been for weeks.

I would guess that it's the volume of traffic causing people in traffic to complain about the amount of traffic .

Surely that would mean that it'd be gridlock every day and certainly not newsworthy enough to start a thread on?

And there's tons of cyclists, the world's changing, get used to it

I saw a load of traffic cops earlier, maybe something nasty has happened.

What do you do, stand there and count them? you would have to do that at intervals during the day to get a realistic estimate of how many cyclists are using a cycle lane.

''What do you do, stand there and count them?''

I'm not sure why, but that made me grin

Rogerstone to Tredegar House roundabout was pretty gnarly today too.

I'm not long got back from Bridgend, Coryton roundabout is chaos, on the slip road off the motorway approaching the roundabout, I was on inside lane, and went up the A470 and over the mountain I'm on a non standard shift pattern at the moment, and no matter what time i leave and come home it's hard work currently.

    Re: Gridlock

Cardiff is absolute carnage on the roads. My commute to work is only saved by the fact I leave at 5am and there is no one else around. Coming home is a different matter. Takes 55 mins at least to get from st Athan to Heath.

The misses is planning a trip to ikea tomorrow. I said I’ll see her Sunday. Sod that.

Jct 32, pop over and chat with WAG / Council, and ask why now and not in lockdown when roads were dead I can only put it down to the fact we are being run by a second rate bunch of politicians and government, and all we can do is howl about Brexit, Tories and nutty Boris , whilst we accept all this shit .

There is never going to be a correct time for roadworks me thinks, my 11.00 am ish route to Bridgend is now up to and through the Coryton roundabout, through Treforest Ind. est. then a road (don't know which one) out of Treforest which goes past Creigiau towards Talbot Green, then back down to the M4 Llantrisant junction, I could go via western avenue and Cowbridge road & A48,but there are so many cameras you could get banned 3 times over on one journey.

And there was me thinking lockdown meant people had to stay at home to stop spreading a dangerous virus, instead of going to work. I didn't realise it was a public intermission to get some people to stay at home while others went out and patched up things when it would cause least disruption.

Took an hour to get off M4 J28 after Tuesday’s game. M4 was shut at that point.
