Labour and Plaid Cymru agree Senedd co operation deal

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-politics-59360575
    https://nation.cymru/news/labour-and...dia-authority/

Labour and Plaid have agreed a deal to work together in the Senedd - no formal coalition so no Plaid ministers but they'll work together on things including establishing rent controls, creating a National Care Service, creating publicly owned construction and energy companies as well as Senedd & voting reform.

Plaid have been banging on about a lot of this stuff for a while so I imagine they'll be happy, also gives Drakeford an excuse to be a bit more lefty than the central Labour Party would like him to be

National care service is desperately needed. I'm optimisic about this.

There goes road improvements just enjoy the 45 minute journeys accross Cardiff.

The link up explains Drakefords comments on no more road building as it's damaging the environment, which is strange as queuing and stationery traffic belching out fumes is part of that problem.

I think the idea with no more road building is to ensure transport spending can go elsewhere like on public transport which is more environmentally friendly

Imagine if Wales wasn't robbed of 5billion from HS2, the metro only costs 750m. The improvements could be huge, oh well Wales continues to be stifled by people 200 miles away.

To paraphrase The Damned - this is another three years of anarchy, chaos and destruction. They've achieved nothing since they came to power, despite having the majority to do whatever they want. Oh, hang on - free prescriptions. That's it.

    Cheaper tuition fees
    Free travel for the elderly
    Opt out organ donations
    Free school breakfasts
Reopening of Ebbw vale and vale train lines
    Rejecting PFI
Homecare costs limited to £80 a week
    Plastic bag charge
3.8% unemployment rate, .5% lower than the UK average
    Huge increases in recycling
Actual proper food given to the poorest kids unlike our English counterparts
    And of course free subscriptions

    Amongst much more.

If they achieve only half of what they've listed in the article above, especially a national care service that will be a huge achievement.

    What have the tories achieved?

So where does Independence of Wales sit as an agenda item for Plaid in this new arrangement, I thought they campaigned on it?

The real test for WAG is better Health and Education, free prescriptions and bus passes are not the answer although they are nice easy appealing vote winners .

some good stuf in there, although I think the tuition fees in Wales can be up to £9000 a year, and England £9250 a year so not really a significant improvement less than 3% cheaper.

Actually looking into it, welsh students get much better grants, meaning effectively that a lot more of them won't need to pay the full 9k as well

Can someone provide a date in the future where we will see and feel the effects of this new cooperation deal , are there any targets we need to monitor such as health, education , crime ,poverty drug use ??

It's a fair question. I think I read that they want a national care service by the end of 2023.

This is the biggest issue in our society, people like you who don't understand if you invest you gain more in the long term.

Cheaper tuition fees means a more educated population.

Free travel for the elderly means more disposable income they can pump into the local economy.

Food for children..Jesus christ do I need to explain this.

Free subscriptions.. helping the most vulnerable to get medical care, what a terrible thing.

I bet you didn't care about the £300 billion spent on brexit or the £1 trillion debt added on by the tory government partially caused be austerity.

I mean your argument is such a stupid lazy one that I can automatically tell you're thick as shit.

Wonderful as before Covid health was seriously underperformed, especially worrying was Sepsis deaths , education was floundering, dreadful high percentage of children in care, drug use on the rise , hopefully we will revist this landmark partnership to see how we perform in the next few days .

Well I'd say the fact that we still have a social care system, the street lights still being on and bins collected shows it despite having huge cuts.
